Teen Loses Control After Attempting To Pass Semi-Truck

According to several local news sources, an unfortunate accident sent two teens from Franklin County to the Hospital last Saturday. The official reports from the Washington State Patrol revealed that a 16-year-old was driving a Honda Accord on the southbound lanes of Highway 17 when he attempted to pass a semi-truck but unfortunately lost control of his vehicle.

The Accord went off the road to the northbound shoulder, rolled down and it came to rest on its wheels. According to the authorities, the teens were wearing their seatbelts.

The accident happened some time around 3 in the afternoon just northwest of Connell. The road conditions and the speeding along with the inattention of the teen behind the wheel caused the crash, a Washington State Patrol officer said.

As a Seattle car accident lawyer I’m certain that the lives of the teens involved in this accident were spared because they were using their seat belts properly. I urge all readers to remember that vehicular safety devices are designed for you and your loved ones so no one will be harmed if an accident happens.

Whenever you or a loved one is involved in an accident caused by the inattention or recklessness of another driver, contact a personal injury lawyer in your area as soon as you can. The fester you act, the faster a proficient lawyer can assist you with your case.

Pedestrian Hit By Vehicle In Arden, CHP Says She Was Intoxicated

According to multiple news sources, a 25-year-old woman from Sacramento was involved in a fatal accident last night.

The California Highway Patrol states that a 60-year-old driver was driving her Chevy Equinox northbound on Fulton Avenue some time after 9 o’clock at night when the 25-year-old hurled herself in front of the vehicle.

The authorities say that she was wearing dark clothes and even though the car was going at about 35 mph, the driver was unable to react in time to avoid colliding against the pedestrian.

She was taken to the hospital shortly after the accident but was later pronounced dead. According to a hospital spokesperson, she died due to the severe injuries she sustained after the collision. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident that might have been caused because the pedestrian was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

As a Los Angeles car accident lawyer I offer my sincerest and deepest condolences to the family of the young woman who lost her life as a result of this accident.

Any personal injury lawyer can tell you that accidents involving intoxicated individuals tend to have fatal outcomes. Remember, drinking and driving is illegal, stay safe.

Ice Cream Scoops Recalled Because of Impact Injury Hazard

In a news release, The Pampered Chef, in accordance with the guidelines of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced the voluntary recall of the company’s ice cream dippers due to a potential impact injury hazard they pose to consumers.

Approximately 20,000 ice cream dippers, manufactured by the Zeroll Company, are affected by this recall. This safety recall was initiated after the company discovered that, when the liquid-filled scoop is exposed to warm water after being used, the cap and seal on the handle could pop off with significant force and strike consumers. The dippers are gray aluminum and have a rounded plastic cap at the end of the handle. The company logo can be found on the cap. The handle is filled with a non-toxic fluid that conducts heat from the user’s hand to more effectively scoop hard ice cream. The scoops were available through the company’s consultants and online from July through September of last year.

The Pampered Chef and CPSC have received 16 reports of the cap flying off, 6 of which include injuries ranging from lacerations to bruises and redness.

Consumers are being asked to stop using the scoops immediately and to call the company for instructions on obtaining either a replacement scoop or a refund.

As a Hanover personal injury lawyer, I’ve seen the injuries stemming from similar recalls in the past and understand the severity of these situations. If you’ve been injured through the use of a defective or otherwise dangerous product, it may be in your interests to speak with an experienced personal injury lawyer.

Women’s Dress Shoes Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

In a press release, Naturalizer, in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced the voluntary safety recall of their “Dare” women’s dress shoes because of a potential fall hazard they pose to consumers.

This recall affects roughly 6,100 pairs of shoes in the United States and 700 pairs in Canada. The recall was initiated after the company discovered that the heels of these shoes lean to either side and pose a significant fall hazard to consumers. The shoes are faux patent leather with a three-inch heel, open toes and a decorative faux leather box on the instep. The shoes were available in gray, nude, scarlet and black and can be identified otherwise by the “Naturalizer” logo inside the shoe along with the stock numbers. These shoes were available in Naturalizer retail stores across the nation from July through November of this year.

The company and the CPSC have received one report of a Canadian consumer sustaining a minor leg injury after falling while wearing the recalled shoes.

Consumers are being instructed to immediately stop wearing the shoes and to return them to any Naturalizer retail store for a full refund.

As a Harrisburg personal injury lawyer, I’m familiar with this kind of safety recall and have seen the tragic injuries that have resulted from similar past recalls. If you’ve sustained an injury through the normal use of a defective product, speak with a personal injury lawyer in your city to learn more about your rights as a consumer.

Bill Strengthening Fines For Delaying Recalls

According to news sources, a bill proposing the strengthening of fines for delaying car recalls is about to be considered by the Senate Commerce Committee tomorrow and is reportedly facing stiff opposition from automakers.

The main point of contention in the Motor Vehicle Safety Act bill relates to the maximum fine that an automaker must pay in cases where a proven delayed recall announcement was taken. Currently the maximum fine stands at $17 million. The proposed fine would replace that maximum fine amount to $250 million instead.

The bills advocates point to documents that reportedly show that Toyota was able to save about $100 by delaying two recalls relating to sudden acceleration. The company was forced to pay a $32.4 million fine for both delayed recalls. The bill has been reportedly called “unfair” and “out of proportion” by certain auto industry groups.

The bill also includes a provision to prohibit car rental companies from renting out recalled vehicles to unknowing consumers.

As a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, I understand the inherent dangers of defective products and the risks they entail. I hope this information can help raise awareness about recalled products and keep consumers safe. If you or a loved one has been injured through the use or consumption of a defective product, speak with a Los Angeles product liability lawyer to learn about the legal options available to you.
